When I was a teenager, I had a few friends that loved to craft as much as me. We loved getting together to crochet and make crafts – especially for Christmas. What I love about Christmas craft parties is that they are fun, seasonal, and productive!

Here are some elements you will want to have at your party:

  1. Christmas movie(s)
Pick it/them up from the $5 bin at Walmart – no one cares as long as there’s a classic! We always liked Rudolph, Frosty, and the Grinch.
  2. A few decorations
You do not have to go crazy on the decorations (unlike the image for this post, ha)! Your Christmas tree (if you have one) and some twinkly lights around is perfect. A couple Christmas tins with craft supplies in them would be fun too. You don’t have to go overboard to get that sweet Christmas vibe.
  3. Let it smell
Cinnamon oil in a diffuser (unless you have animals, it is harmful to them!), evergreen candles, Glade plug-ins, festive potpourri, or simmering herbs, spices, and fruit in a pot the stove. Don’t get stuck on only the visual aesthetic!
  4. Snacks
Think movie-watching appropriate, clean hands for crafting, festive colors, and both salty and sweet options. Sometimes we only have sweet for holidays like Christmas, but it can be overpowering on the palate. Pinterest is loaded with fun, Christmas-themed ideas. I always loved doing square pretzels with Hershey kisses on top in the oven, and once the chocolate got soft, pulling them out and pushing an M&M down on each. Super easy, and perfect little snacks to set out in a bowl once they’ve cooled. Salt’n butter popcorn and puppy chow are also fun treats. Some great Christmas flavors include citrus, chocolate, and peppermint.
  5. Craft supplies
Will you need glue guns, popsicle sticks, paint, buttons, string, paper, or scizzors?

Now that you have what you need to throw the party, you’ll need to plan it! Let’s make some decisions:

  1. Who’s invited?
The number of people will determine how many snacks and possibly glue guns you’ll need. Who would be interested in this event and could be counted on to get back to you right away?
  2. What time?
Is this a luncheon sort of thing, when it’s bright and white outside? Or are you leaning more to crafting during dinner and movie?
  3. What kind of invites?
I love making them on canva. If you are connected to your guests online, you could either make a Facebook event, or make invites on canva and send them electronically instead of buying physical copies. Or you could just send a quick message to your friends – but where’s the fun in that?
  4. What kind of crafts?
Although it’s nice to keep options open for creativity’s sake, you’ll accomplish a lot more if you have a plan before beginning crafts. I always liked to make candy sleds and one of my friends liked making fairy ornaments (wooden bead for a head, glued onto an upside down fake flower – super cute!!). Another really fun craft night project is stationary! Who doesn’t love getting a homemade card?
Definitely look up crafts on Pinterest to get ideas ahead of time!

This is a super fun party. It allows you to enjoy the time it takes to make gifts and cards while spending time with the people you love.
